Known as the birthplace of the walking safari, South Luangwa is a sanctuary for big cats, elephants, giraffes, and an astonishing variety of birdlife. By day you’ll explore its savannahs and riverbanks on thrilling game drives and guided walks; by night, you’ll discover a different world of nocturnal predators and elusive species.
Your safari continues along the legendary Zambezi River, where you’ll cruise past pods of hippos, spot elephants on the banks, and experience the awe of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Start: Lusaka International Airport (LUN) or Mfuwe Airport (for direct Luangwa access)
End: Livingstone Airport (LVI) or Lusaka, with optional Victoria Falls extensions
Airport transfers and additional hotel nights can be arranged before or after safari.
Upon arrival in Lusaka, connect with your flight to Mfuwe, gateway to South Luangwa National Park. Meet your guide and transfer to your riverside lodge. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy an evening game drive as the sun sets, offering your first sightings of leopards, hippos, and elephants.

Rise early for a morning game drive when predators are most active. South Luangwa is famous for its leopard sightings, as well as large herds of elephants and buffalo. After lunch and rest at camp, return for an afternoon game drive that transitions into a night safari, spotlighting lions, hyenas, and nocturnal creatures.

A full day in South Luangwa gives you more time to track wildlife across different areas of the park. Spend the morning exploring open plains where giraffes and zebras roam, and the afternoon in riverine forests where elephants feed. Your night drive may reveal porcupines, civets, and perhaps even a leopard hunting under the cover of darkness.

After breakfast, transfer to Mfuwe Airport for your flight to Livingstone. On arrival, transfer to your lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River. The afternoon is yours to relax or enjoy a sunset cruise, where you’ll see crocodiles basking, hippos grunting, and elephants gathering at the water’s edge.

After breakfast, visit the mighty Victoria Falls, locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya The Smoke that Thunders.” Walk the rainforest trails for incredible viewpoints, and feel the spray of one of the world’s most impressive waterfalls. In the afternoon, optional activities include cultural village visits, helicopter flights, or additional river safaris.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast by the river before your transfer to Livingstone Airport for your onward journey. If time allows, you may stop for one last glimpse of the Zambezi or enjoy a short village tour before departure.
