Ndutu

Ndutu

Did you know? One of the best-kept secrets of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit is the Ndutu region. Known for its breathtakingly vast open plains, picturesque Lake Ndutu, the salt Lake Masek, and diverse marshes and woodlands, Ndutu is home to resident populations of elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and big cats. However, it is most renowned for hosting the Great Migration each year. Starting in December, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras journey across the Serengeti from the Mara River region to Ndutu for the “calving season,” where thousands of new animals are born daily. While many travelers aim to witness the Great Migration during the peak season in August or September, visitors to Ndutu enjoy exceptional viewing opportunities in an area that permits off-road driving. Contact us today to learn more about visiting this spectacular part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Location & Getting There: The Ndutu region is situated on the northern edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the southern boundary of Serengeti National Park. The drive to Ndutu takes approximately 2.5 hours from the crater, 3 hours from Central Serengeti, 3 hours from Lake Manyara, and 5 hours from Arusha.

Resident Wildlife: Giraffes, elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and leopards.

Let us exceed your expectations and create memories that will last a lifetime.
