Namiri Plains, Serengeti

Namiri Plains, Serengeti
Completely refurbished and upgraded in 2019, Namiri Plains is located in Tanzania’s eastern Serengeti. This remote camp is also part of a conservation effort, focusing on protecting a vital area for cheetahs and other big cats.

Before the camp was established, these grasslands were closed off for 20 years to allow the cheetah population to recover. The nearest other camps are over an hour’s drive away, ensuring that you can enjoy the vast plains in complete solitude. When you’re not out spotting lions and other big cats or watching massive herds of wildebeest, relax by the pool, book a massage at the spa, or explore the library and information center. Alternatively, simply unwind and take in the stunning views from your private deck.

Meals and Refreshments
All meals are prepared in camp, including fresh bread, biscuits, and muffins. Breakfast offers a continental buffet or a full English breakfast, while lunch is a light buffet featuring salads or fresh vegetables. If you choose to extend your game drive into the day, we can pack your lunch for a bush picnic. In the evening, a three-course dinner is served in the dining tent or outdoors under the stars.

We can accommodate most dietary needs. Please inform us of any specific requirements prior to your arrival.

A Typical Day on Safari
Our game drives take place during the cooler parts of the day—early morning and late afternoon—when animals are most active. The exact times may vary with the seasons. If you’ve hired a private vehicle, you can adjust your schedule with your guide.

Start your day with a wake-up call and tea or coffee, followed by breakfast before heading out for the morning game drive (or a packed picnic if you prefer). Return to camp mid-morning and take some time to freshen up before lunch.

After a relaxing lunch, enjoy some downtime with a book or simply unwind while soaking in the sights and sounds of the bush. Afternoon tea will refuel you before heading out for your afternoon/evening game drive with sundowners. Return to camp for drinks around the campfire and a delicious dinner—perfect for unwinding after an exciting day in the bush.

ROOMS
Ten spacious and stylish tented suites (including one family tent) offer stunning views of the Serengeti plains. Following our 2019 refurbishment, the tents are larger, featuring sliding doors that span the width of each room and open onto expanded viewing decks. The walls are constructed from calcrete, a sedimentary rock formed from the ashes of the Ngorongoro volcanoes, which helps regulate the temperature. The interiors are decorated with natural materials and earthy tones. Each bathroom boasts a view of the plains, and a standalone resin tub is placed on your private deck, perfect for an al fresco bubble bath while sipping a chilled glass of fizz.
