Opened in October 2018, Discover Lemala Nanyukie Lodge sits in the stunning Eastern Serengeti. It upholds the exceptional comfort and service standards found across the Lemala luxury collection, including Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge in the Serengeti, Lemala Mpingo Ridge in Tarangire, and Hamerkop House by Lemala in Arusha.
The lodge’s name, “Nanyukie,” means “endless plains” in Maasai. Located just a 60-minute drive east of the Seronera Airstrip, it offers breathtaking views across the central Serengeti. The camp sits on grassy savanna dotted with rocky kopjes and shaded by ancient acacia trees.
This area is ideal for witnessing the dramatic wildlife spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration. Moreover, it provides excellent year-round game viewing, particularly for big cats. Previously, scientists used the region for predator research, focusing on cheetahs. As a result, Lemala Nanyukie now operates year-round, offering guided game drives and walking safaris led by highly skilled and knowledgeable guides.
Guests stay in spacious tents with canvas walls, cathedral-like ceilings, and expansive hardwood decks. The décor blends light, contemporary whites and neutral tones with warmth from textured accessories, luxurious upholstery, wooden furnishings, and thoughtfully designed lighting.
The lodge has 15 lavish guest tents, including 13 standard suites and one two-bedroom suite. Five of the suites have extra day beds for triple occupancy. The two-bedroom suite suits families or groups of friends. Each tent includes a large bed, a lounge area, and a generous bathroom with a double vanity, indoor and outdoor showers, and a freestanding bathtub.
Private wooden decks feature sunken seating, outdoor showers, and corner plunge pools with sweeping Serengeti views.
The main lodge area includes a comfortable lounge and bar, an outdoor viewing deck, a swimming pool, and indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Additionally, Lemala Nanyukie arranges bush breakfasts and lantern-lit dinners. Guests can also enjoy post-dinner drinks around the campfire while sharing safari stories.
