The Climbing Kilimanjaro via Rongai Route is especially popular among experienced climbers. It is the only route to the summit of Kilimanjaro that begins on the northern side, near the Kenyan border. The northern side is windier and drier, resulting in less vegetation and expansive views of the beautiful Kenyan landscape.
The descent is via the Marangu Route (on the south side), allowing you to experience both sides of Kilimanjaro. The entire ascent, including descent, via the Rongai Route takes six days. If desired, you can add an extra day of trekking, which is highly recommended. This additional day gives your body more time to adjust to the altitude, increasing your chances of reaching the summit without encountering altitude sickness.
Climbing Kilimanjaro is the ultimate challenge! Every small detail can make a big difference, which is why at Africa Joy Tourss, we ensure you have professional guides, porters, and a cook supporting you during your ascent via the Rongai Route. Our team checks your health twice a day and prepares delicious meals to keep you fueled during the climb. These steps are essential for managing altitude sickness, which can arise unexpectedly, and for ensuring you have the strength to complete the trek.
Additionally, we provide a comprehensive information package to help you prepare for your climb via the Rongai Route. This guide includes key details about Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro, preparation tips, and what gear to buy or rent.
