Escape to Rufiji River Camp, where comfort meets the untamed wilderness of Southern Tanzania. Awake to a symphony of the African bush – the Rufiji River in flow, elephant trumpeting, black and white colobus monkeys swinging in the treetops, and a chorus of some 440 bird species – before embarking on a wildlife safari. Perhaps you’ll see the world’s largest population of endangered African Wild Dog in this ‘Big Five’ national park. Welcome to Africa’s biggest conservation area. We call this UNESCO World Heritage Site home.
For the best game viewing, visit Rufiji River Camp during the dry season, from June to late October. Temperatures drop as the landscape dries and wildlife congregates along the Rufiji River, offering incredible sightings. The short rains, from November to December, sees the river swell and brings the magic of young animals and migrant birdlife, with short-lived showers giving way to clear skies. Our tented camp closes temporarily during the long rainy season from late March to early June.
