How to Get There

• This tour starts and ends in Windhoek, Namibia’s vibrant capital city.
• International flights arrive and depart from Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), situated about 40 km from Windhoek.
• Africa Joy Tours will gladly assist you with guidance on flight connections, though all international flight bookings must be made directly.
• Airport transfers at the beginning and end of the tour can be arranged for an additional cost.
• Pre- and post-tour accommodation in Windhoek can also be organized upon request.

Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Arrival in Windhoek

Upon your arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Windhoek. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short city tour of Namibia’s capital, visiting highlights such as the Christuskirche, Parliament Gardens, and the Independence Memorial Museum.

Later in the evening, meet with your safari guide for a full briefing on the adventure ahead before enjoying a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Windhoek – Namib Desert (Sossusvlei Region)

After breakfast, depart Windhoek and head southwest through rugged landscapes, crossing mountain passes and vast open plains on the way to the Namib Desert. En route, stop at the quirky settlement of Solitaire, famous for its apple pie and desert charm.

Arrive at your lodge near Sesriem in the late afternoon. Take time to relax or enjoy a short sunset walk into the desert as the sand dunes glow in fiery shades of orange and red against the evening sky.

Day 3: Sossusvlei, Deadvlei & Sesriem Canyon

Rise early to catch the first light over the Namib Desert. Enter the Namib-Naukluft National Park and climb the iconic Dune 45 or admire the panoramic view of rolling dunes bathed in golden light. Continue deeper into the desert to explore the surreal landscape of Deadvlei, a white clay pan scattered with ancient, petrified trees that stand in stark contrast to the surrounding red dunes.

Later, visit the dramatic Sesriem Canyon, carved by centuries of flowing water, before returning to your lodge for a relaxed afternoon. After dinner, step outside to enjoy some of the clearest stargazing skies in the world.

Day 4: Namib Desert – Swakopmund (Atlantic Coast)

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive through the Gaub Pass and across the Kuiseb Canyon, watching the desert landscapes give way to the refreshing breezes of the Atlantic Ocean. By early afternoon, arrive in the charming coastal town of Swakopmund, renowned for its German colonial architecture, palm-lined avenues, and vibrant seaside atmosphere.

Spend the afternoon at leisure: stroll along the promenade, browse local craft markets, or simply enjoy the coastal scenery. Dinner is at leisure, and you may choose one of the excellent seafood restaurants for a taste of fresh Atlantic cuisine.

Day 5: Swakopmund – Etosha National Park

This morning, depart Swakopmund and travel north toward Namibia’s premier wildlife destination Etosha National Park. Along the way, pass traditional villages and scenic savannahs before entering the park in the afternoon. Enjoy your first game drive en route to your lodge.

Etosha is world-renowned for its abundant wildlife, particularly around its many waterholes. Look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, and perhaps predators like lions or cheetahs.

In the evening, settle at your lodge and, if available, visit a floodlit waterhole where animals gather after dark for an unforgettable wildlife spectacle.

Day 6: Etosha – Windhoek & Departure

Wake up early for a final game drive in Etosha, capturing the magic of the morning as wildlife stirs across the open plains. With luck, you may spot the rare black rhino or a pride of lions returning from their night hunt.

After breakfast, depart the park and journey back to Windhoek. Depending on your departure schedule, you will be transferred directly to Hosea Kutako International Airport for your onward flight or to your hotel for an additional night in the city.
