• The tour starts and ends in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital.
• International flights should be booked to and from Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), located approximately 40 km east of Windhoek.
• Africa Joy Tours will gladly provide advice on flight connections, though all international bookings must be made independently.
• Airport transfers, as well as additional accommodation before the start or after the end of the tour, can be arranged upon request at an additional cost.

Itinerary in detail

Day 1: Arrival in Windhoek

Upon landing at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you will be met by your professional guide and transferred to your hotel in Windhoek. Depending on your arrival time, you may embark on a short city orientation tour. Visit landmarks such as the iconic Christuskirche, the Parliament Gardens, and the Independence Memorial Museum, which showcase both Namibia’s colonial past and its journey to independence.

In the evening, enjoy a warm welcome dinner and a detailed briefing about the adventure ahead. This is your first chance to get a taste of Namibia’s hospitality and to connect with fellow travelers.

Day 2: Windhoek – Namib Desert (Sossusvlei Region)

After breakfast, set off on a scenic drive into the heart of the Namib Desert. The road takes you through sweeping landscapes, rugged mountain passes, and vast open plains that stretch to the horizon. Stop en route at the quirky settlement of Solitaire, known for its rustic bakery and timeless charm, before continuing toward Sesriem the gateway to Sossusvlei.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, where you can take a short sunset walk into the desert. Watch the sand dunes change color as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the desert in shades of red, orange, and gold. This first desert evening offers peace, solitude, and a sky illuminated by countless stars.

Day 3: Sossusvlei, Deadvlei & Sesriem Canyon

Journey deeper into the desert to reach Deadvlei, a surreal clay pan dotted with ancient, fossilized trees. After breakfast, travel through the Namib-Naukluft National Park toward the coast. The drive showcases dramatic contrasts: from towering dunes to rocky desert plains and finally to the cool Atlantic Ocean. Arrive in Swakopmund, a coastal town with German colonial architecture, palm-lined avenues, and a relaxed seaside atmosphere.

Spend the afternoon exploring Swakopmund at leisure. Stroll along the beach promenade, visit craft markets, or indulge in coffee and cake at a traditional German-style café. Dinner is at leisure, allowing you to choose from one of the town’s excellent seafood restaurants.

Explore nearby geological wonders such as the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain.

Day 8: Etosha – Windhoek & Departure

After the game drive, begin your journey back to Windhoek. Depending on your flight schedule, you will either be dropped off directly at Hosea Kutako International Airport for departure or taken to your hotel for an additional overnight stay.
