Daily Activities on the Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Holiday

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Start of Your Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Holiday

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our representative will transfer you to Ilboru Safari Lodge in Arusha. After a short briefing about your Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Holiday, relax at the lodge and prepare for your adventure starting tomorrow.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park Game Drive – Tanzania Safari Experience

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy your first full-day game drive spotting elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. Admire the iconic baobab trees and wildlife along the Tarangire River. Overnight at Sangaiwe Tented Camp. This is the perfect introduction to your Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Holiday.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Tanzania Safari Adventure

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park in the morning. Observe the famous tree-climbing lions, hippos, baboons, and a variety of birds. Enjoy lunch at a picnic site or lodge. Continue exploring the park before transferring to Endoro Lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Tanzania Safari Highlights

Visit the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken caldera. Descend 600 meters for a full day of wildlife viewing. Spot zebras, topis, elands, warthogs, and possibly the Big Five. Return to Ngorongoro Farm House for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge – Tanzania Safari Exploration

Travel to Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site where early human fossils were discovered. Continue to Serengeti National Park for afternoon game drives across the plains. Overnight at Serengeti Robins Safari Tented Camp.

Day 6: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti – Tanzania Safari Adventure

After an optional early morning game drive, transfer to Seronera Airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, transfer to your beach resort to relax and enjoy Indian Ocean views. Overnight at Ocean Paradise Resort.

Visit a spice plantation to explore local spices and taste fresh fruits. Enjoy a Swahili lunch at the plantation. In the afternoon, tour Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, including the Old Fort, House of Wonders, and local markets. Overnight at Tembo House Hotel.

Day 10: Spice Tour and Jozani Forest – Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Holiday Adventure

Itinerary in Details

Day 1: Arrive In Tanzania.

On this day of arrival you will be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport /at your arrival point by our representative and safari Manager who will transfer to the Ilboru Safari Lodge around Arusha for safari briefing then relax with your safari starting tomorrow.

Dinner and overnight at Ilboru Safari Lodge: Bed, Dinner, Lunch, and Breakfast included.

Day 2: Game Drive To Tarangire National Park.

Depart after breakfast and drive to Tarangire National Park the third largest park in Tanzania and the theater of the wild in Tanzania. Tarangire national park has a lot to offer you in terms of wildlife and its awe- inspiring sights of the gigantic baobab that dot the park. The Tarangire River is the lifeblood of this wonderful reserve and it ensures an abundance of wildlife along the river when they come to get a fair share of the valuable commodity especially in dry seasons. Among animals spotted in Tarangire includes, lions, elephants, leopards, Oryx , dik diks, and a wide range of birds species. Later in the afternoon you will check in at Sangaiwe Tented Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive To Lake Manyara National Park.

Early morning game drive is worthy taking if you wish and after breakfast depart Tarangire National Park for Lake Manyara national Park. Lake Manyara is a small beautiful national park famous for the legendary tree climbing lions and many other large and small mammals. Lunch can be served at the numerous picnic sites in the park or if you wish you may go for hot lunch at the lodge before returning for game drives in the afternoon. You will drive in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight at Rift Valley Lodge or Endoro Lodge at Karatu. All meals included.

Day 4: Game Drive In Ngorongoro Crater.

If staying around Manyara / Mto wa Mbu area, leave Manyara in the morning after taking breakfast and drive via Karatu town to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After registration at the Loduare Gate you will drive up to the Crater rim and make your first stop at the View Point. Here you will have the most stunning views over the Crater floor then you embark on your descent down the 600 meter walls for game viewing.In this world’s largest unbroken caldera if you are lucky you will spot the Big five on the same day. Ngorongoro Crater is world renowned for its unparalleled concentration of animals and bird life and among the species that you can spot freely includes; zebras, topis, elands, warthogs, hartebeests and many more. The list is endless. On the late afternoon we ascend up the Crater Rim to check in back at the Ngorongoro Farm House. All meals included.

Day 5: Game Drive In Serengeti National Park.

After breakfast in the morning you check out of the lodge at Ngorongoro and drive to Olduvai Gorge where Dr Louise and Mary Leaky discovered old fossils of a hominid called Australopithecus Boisei. This discovery led to the theory that Africa is the cradle of mankind, and at Olduvai Gorge you will be lectured briefly about the theory and the discovery. There after you will drive to Serengeti through the Naabi Hill Gate where you will stop briefly for registration. This day you will take picnic lunch and go ahead with the game drives in the plains for the rest of the afternoon then drive to the Serengeti Robins Safari Tented Camp for dinner and overnight. All meals included.

Day 6: Another Full Day Game Drive In Serengeti National Park.

On this day you will have the chance of going for a morning game drive at dawn (If you wish)to see nocturnal animals retiring and the diurnal species waking up for a new day under the beautiful African rising sun. You will then go back to the lodge/camp for breakfast then leave with a lunch box for a full day of game drives on the endless plains of Serengeti. Depending on the months that you have traveled you may witness the Great Migration that involves the movement of over a million and a half wildebeests together with zebras and gazelles in what is the largest mass movement of animals on the planet. Other resident animals include the lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, topis, elands, dikdiks, baboons and many more. Serengeti is also very popular for an amazingly large number of birds species.

Day 7: Fly Out Of Serengeti To Zanzibar.

Last early morning game drive at dawn if you wish but if you don’t, you take breakfast and drive to the Seronera Airstrip to take your flight to the Zanzibar Island. On arrival you will be met by our driver who will transfer you to the Ocean Paradise Resort where you will check in and be left to relax. Dinner and overnight at the Beach Resort.

Day 8: Relaxing Day In Zanzibar White Sand Beach.

These days are spent at the beach resort in Zanzibar where you can choose from the various water sports /activities on offer at the Diving Club on site, or just soak it up at the resort. It is a beach vacation after all. Diving in Zanzibar can be arranged in advance or spontaneously at the resort.

Dinner and overnight at Ocean Paradise Resort: Bed and Breakfast included.

Day 9: Stone Town Tour.

On this day after breakfast you check out of the beach resort and we drive to the Spice plantations of Zanzibar. At one of these legendary plantations of the spice island of Zanzibar we get to explore the history of the plantations as well as learn more about the spices and fruits that were introduced to the island by explorers from the Arab world and some from Europe. We get to sample also a sumptuous lunch at the spice plantations to get a taste of local Swahili dishes. After this tour in the afternoon we head to Stone town for a tour of this ancient town that has been also declared a world heritage site by the United Nation body; UNESCO. We go down the narrow alleys and streets and get to see the cathedrals, the Old fort, the house of wonders and the Peoples Palace as well. It is an opportunity to buy some spices as well as some souvenirs.

Day 10: Spice Tour.

Today you will go on an excursion to the spice and fruit plantations close to Stone town for the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special spice tour with in-depth information not only about spices but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description of their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour, we invite for an opulent lunch at our guides’ home, where you can taste the spices and fruits. After lunch, we take you to your beach resort.

On the way, you will pass Jozani Forest, the last habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey. With a local guide, you stroll through Jozani Chwaka National Park and look at the rare monkeys. If you wish you can even wander down the boardwalk to the fascinating Mangrove Ecosystem.

Dinner and overnight stay at Coral beach resort: (Bed and breakfast).

Day 11: Dolphin Trip.

Today you will visit Kizimkazi. Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience. We are doing this trip in the afternoon to avoid the crowds of tourists in the morning, which in big numbers disturbing the dolphins.

Day 12: Snorkeling In Zanzibar.

Snorkeling in Zanzibar is an experience of a lifetime. Unlike many other popular snorkeling destinations around the world, it is still possible to find places that have never been explored along the coast. The many varieties of coral provide a home to thousands of colorful and exotic creatures, including blue ribbon tail rays, firefish, and for the “Finding Nemo” fans, clownfish.

Dinner and overnight at Fumba Beach Lodge: (Bed and breakfast).

Day 13: Safari Blue Tour.

Morning at 7:30 picked up from your hotel to Fumba village where you will meet your special boat, it is about visiting three different sandbanks and you will stop in one of those for Seafood lunch where by later you do snorkeling and having the chance of seeing the dolphin. It is a full day back at 17:30 Fumba village and arrives at the hotel around 18:30. Then back to the hotel.

Day 14: Departure Day.

Depending on your flight schedule and departure point you will be transferred to the Zanzibar Airport to take a flight back home. If you are flying out of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we will arrange a connection flight for you to catch your flight back home.
