Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival, you will be met by an AfricaJoy Safari representative and transferred to your accommodation. Enjoy a relaxed evening to prepare for your upcoming adventure.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your private safari guide will pick you up in the morning for the drive to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy views of the rolling Masai plains and vibrant communities along the way. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds and hosts a wide variety of wildlife. From seasonal swamps to the life-giving Tarangire River, you’ll have superb game-viewing opportunities, including the possibility of encountering lions or leopards.

Day 3: Central Serengeti (Seronera)

After breakfast, travel through the fertile highlands and misty rainforest of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with chances to spot baboons, leopards, or elephants. Continue toward the Serengeti, arriving by midday for your first game drive across the park’s vast plains.

Day 4: North Serengeti – Following the Migration

Journey north through rolling landscapes, rivers, and kopjes. The Northern Serengeti is home to abundant wildlife and far fewer visitors. From August onward, the migration herds gather here, and with luck, you will witness the dramatic Mara River crossings.

Day 5: North Serengeti – Mara River Crossing

Spend the day exploring the Mara River region. Watch thousands of wildebeest crowd the riverbanks, hesitating until one brave animal makes the first leap. The crossing is intense, with strong currents and crocodiles waiting, but those that make it are rewarded with lush grass on the other side.

Day 6: Return to Central Serengeti

After breakfast, travel back to the Seronera area. This region provides excellent chances to spot resident predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Enjoy another breathtaking Serengeti sunset.

Day 7: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

Day 9: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
