This is 12 Day Uganda Safari that goes through Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi and Lake Mburo National Park. The highlights of 12 Day Uganda Safari include Murchison Fall where you expect to see the lion, Buffalo, Giraffe and boat cruise to the bottom of the falls.
Kibale offers the biggest number of primates in Africa, “13 different species”, including chimpanzee, baboons and monkeys among others. Ishasha sector is prominent for the tree climbing lions and lastly Gorillas in Bwindi.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
On arrival at the airport to begging the 12 Day Uganda Safari you will be welcomed by our guide who will transfer you to UWEC Cottages for the night. While at it, he will give you a general outline of the entire tour. While at the cottage, you get to enjoy a quiet and relaxed environment that will surely introduce you to Uganda in preparation of the days to come. Accommodation: Uwec Cottages
Day 2: Departure to Murchison Falls – Rhino Sanctuary
Early morning begin the panoramic drive northwest through the famous Luwero Triangle, visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which houses the Uganda Rhino reintroduction project. There are 13 white Rhinos and tracking is done on foot that takes about 1.5 hours. Thereafter, drive to Masindi Town for lunch and later drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Dinner and overnight is at Murchison River lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
Today we head for a game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile. We shall have the opportunity to spot elephants, lions, cape buffalos, Rothchild’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reed buck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. After lunch, go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Here you will see the River Nile said to be the 2nd longest river in the world crush through a narrow gorge and forming the magnificent Murchison fall. While on the cruise you will see hippos, crocodiles, elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob among others. This is also the zone of many birds species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. Accommodation: Murchison River Lodge
Day 4: Proceed to Kibale National Park
After our morning breakfast, we drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and pass traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon notably known as the Rwenzori mountains. Having a chance of seeing the mountains will depend on how clear the sky is. Day 5: Chimp Trekking
After breakfast we visit Kibale Forest National Park, which is reputed to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species is the Chimpanzee, our closest relative. Kibale 1450 Chimpanzee represent Uganda’s largest population of this endangered primate. Kibale is also a home to the rare I’Hoest’s monkey. Other primates include the black and white Colobus, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked mangabey, Red tailed monkey, Olive baboon to mention but a few. So you will enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzees. Return to the Lodge. Accommodation: Kibale Forest Camp
Day 6: Proceeding to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast we resume our drive to the Queen Elizabeth National park as we go through Fort portal and Kasese. On our we shall have a stopover at one of the leading Tea factories in Uganda, given an opportunity will have a chance to interact the local who are working in this Tea Plantations. After that, we proceed to queen and if the sky is clear enough we stand a chance of seeing the Rwonzori’s mountains the second biggest mountain to Kirimanjalo. We shall have an evening game and also visiting one of the Main salt lakes in Uganda ( Lake Katwe). Accommodation: Bush Lodge
Day 7: Game Drive and Boat trip
We have an early morning game drive in the Park where we expect to see Elephants, Buffalos, Lions, Bush bucks, Kobs, Giant forest hog, Hyenas and Waterbucks. We then return to our accommodation and have breakfast. In the after noon we’ll take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga channel and you will appreciate the scores of Hippos, Buffalos, and Crocodiles close to the waterside as well as if we are lucky the rare Leopard prowling. There is a variety of bird species especially pelican and Jacana. Accommodation: Bush Lodge
Day 8: Drive to Bwindi Enroute Ishasha
Today we will drive to the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth known as Ishasha, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Ishasha is a remote and beautiful extension of Queen Elizabeth National Park. There is an opportunity to view buffalos, Topis, hippos and many more species. We shall have our lunch at River Ishasha while viewing the Hipos and thereafter we shall do an evening game drive on way to the Lodge. Accommodation:Gorilla Mist Camp
Day 9: Relaxing / Community Walk
This is a day of rest in this 12 Day Uganda Safari after a hectic drive through Murchison falls to Bwindi. Its a day that you prepare yourself both in mind and body for the ultimate experience of the Gorilla trekking. While relaxing, an option of doing a Nature and Community walk may be considered if interested. Additionally, a walk to the minority Batwa community may be taken. This activity is at an extra cost of $15 per person. Accommodation: Gorilla Mist Camp
Day 10: Gorilla Trekking
A morning cup of coffee or tea is recommended before your gorilla tracking safari. We will then head to the briefing point at the park headquarters and from here you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while in the jungle forest with the gentle Giants. You will be provided with walking sticks and you are also advised to have your lunch parked with enough drinking water. Staring into the pensive brown eyes of these gentle giants, who share 95% of their genes with humans, is as humbling as it is thrilling. After tracking you will travel back to your lodge, relax, dine and overnight at our lodge. Accommodation: Gorilla Mist Camp
Day 11: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park
Early in the morning embark on a 5 hours drive to lake Mburo National Park. You will have an evening game drive or a safari walk under the escort of an armed ranger. The Kopjes are particularly interesting and camouflage kilspringers and topis. Due to cattle herding in the area it is amusing to see zebra grazing alongside the long horned Ankole cattle peaceably. Day 12: Departure from Lake Mburo to Entebbe
Today we shall begin with an early morning Walk through the park, lake Mburo is famous for Eland, Impala, Topi and zebras, the walk will take about 2-3 hours. There after return for lunch that won’t take long, then embark on our Journey to Kampala, have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time, take some photos, and buy souvenirs. Then another stop over at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed on by the elders. Thereafter proceed to Airport.This will mark the end of 12 Day Uganda Safari.
